Η Malese Jow μιλαει στο περιοδικό Starry Mag για την επιστροφή της στο Vampire Diaries.
Q. What are some of the recent projects that you've been working on?
A. I actually just finished filming a couple of episodes of "Big Time Rush" which was very different and very fun. Also "The Vampire Diaries" which everyone got to see recently.
Q. What can you tell us about the new season of "The Troop" and about your character?
A. The show is called "The Troop" and they are on their second season which will be premiering Saturday, June 25th, and it's very exciting because I am the new character. I think the show is totally new and jam packed with new action and new situations. Also Matt Shively joins us this season which is also really fun so everyone is going to get a whole new Troop. I think it's great and that people are really going to enjoy it. My character Cadence definitely brings the more serious side out of the show and she brings the edge. She shows up on a motorbike in slow motion and I think that pretty much describes her for the rest of the season. She's so cool and it was a pleasure playing her.
Q. What made you want to be a part of the show?
A. I went in a couple of times to read with Gage and we had great timing back and forth and I just had a really good vibe about it. I idea that I was going to be in Canada for a few months if I were to get the show was really exciting. I love being on location because you get a sense of family even more so than if you were filming in LA. I ended up getting it thankfully and I am very blessed because those were a great few months for me. I learned so much and I had so much fun.
Q. Is there anything about the role that you found challenging?
A. There were some things that I found challenging. Blending the comedy with the serious aspect of her character was definitely hard. This character comes off really confident and really brash and I think some of those things are rooted in insecurities and you're just going to have to watch the season to find out what insecurities Cadence actually has.
Q. You have great comedic timing, has it come naturally or has it been something you've studied?
A. I try not to be funny because you know when people try too hard it's like whatever. I guess it comes naturally, I'm pretty goofy in real life, once you get to know me I'm very out there and very outgoing. I think comedy is definitely the hardest thing to do for me. You have to be on time and you have to find the beat within the scene which is really hard. This show made it so easy working with Gage, Nick, and Matt Shively. They are so hilarious and they made it really easy for me.
Q. Do you have a really memorable moment from filming the show?
A. My most memorable moment just in general was just being in Canada, it was beautiful there and the people were so welcoming. It was so clean and scenic and so great. A specific moment, oh my gosh we had so many fun ones, I loved filming the episode where Cadence has an inner and outer transformation. Haley presents her with a magazine to kind of get her in touch with her more feminine side because Cadence because she's always in jeans, boots, and leather jackets. That whole episode and doing her transformation was very fun for me and within that episode we also had chicken suits involved and a Prom so it was definitely jam packed.
Q. What do you think it is about the show that continues to draw viewers in?
A. I think people like watching "The Troop" because it definitely brings action to Nickelodeon I feel. We have monsters, stunts, and fighting but yet we also have the comedy and the love triangle. I think The Troop really encompasses a lot of things that can touch many different people and have a lot of different people enjoy it. I think parents will definitely enjoy it because we definitely have some funny humor in there. We also have some serious stuff in there especially with my character and then the kids will enjoy it because obviously there is fighting and monsters and everything is new this season which is very exciting. We have kind of a comic book thing going on which is really cool.
Q. Obviously we got a hint of your character Anna's return on "The Vampire Diaries." You mentioned in a recent interview that the call was out of the blue and that the show was on the bottom of your list of which shows would be asking you back. Why was it so low on your list and what was it like returning after such a gap?
A. I mean it was so final. Everyone was trying but I think Julie even mentioned that it was very final in an interview after that had aired. It was okay, I think I was okay with the character and she did her whole thing on the show and she did what she accomplished. That's just the business, I was moving on and I had done "Leverage" and "The Troop" and I was moving on from that character which is what you have to do. I was so honored once I got that phone call, beyond honored to Kevin and Julie and everyone involved. The fact that they have killed off so many characters and that they picked out Kayla and I is great and I can't wait to see where they go with it and if it's going to be a big thing or a small thing. I know as much as the viewers which is nothing so I am sitting here wondering and I guess everyone will have to tune in to the third season to see what happens.
Q. You're a part of the social networking site Twitter, why is it important for you to connect with fans this way?
A. I love Twitter, it's instant gratification. I do this stuff for the fans and to entertain people so to hear their reactions to things and for me to involve them in behind the scenes things like pictures and letting them know that these are real people and this is a job and just giving them a glimpse into the process and then my personal life is wonderful. I love that we can have that intimate relationship with each other because I absolutely adore my fans, they've been so supportive since I was twelve years old when Myspace was the hot thing. It's really cool for them to see my growth and for me to see my fans changing because I've gotten to see my demographic grow with me which is awesome.
Q. What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A. I could go on and on but I'll try to keep it short. Like I was saying I absolutely adore their support for it and I thank them so much. All of the comments on Twitter keep me going and they get me so excited for everything because I know they're sharing the excitement. Just a huge thank you and thank you for blessing me with me being able to do what I love to do.
