Vampire Diaries Spoilers: Is Meredith Sticking Around Mystic Falls For Season 4?

There’s something about Meredith (Torrey DeVitto). Mystic Falls’ resident doctor has managed to stay alive longer than many random humans on The Vampire Diaries — no small feat, considering she’s dating a halfway-homicidal history teacher. But while Torrey has been saying all along her character has an expiration date, it’s possible the producers have bigger plans for Dr. Fell.

 

At a recent screening for Season 3, Episode 20, “Do Not Go Gentle,” executive producer Julie Plec told reporters that Meredith’s arc could stretch into Season 4. Plec joked that Meredith might become Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) drinking buddy — or more. Cue our Alaric (Matt Davis) panic! The Hollywood Reporter says that a big shift will take place in the Gilbert household after the episode, and someone else “may have to step up in a very big way.”
