Q. How did the release of your poetry book The Blue Sky Chronicles come about?
A. I met someone and the relationship that I was in before the one I’m in now, I wrote it literally. I kind of documented the mental process of falling in love and it was very interesting and I thought that my fans would get a kick out of it so I decided to release a poetry book.
Q. How is writing poetry similar and different to when you write songs?
A. It’s very different. With songs I feel this, kind of, responsibility and kind of a weight to appease the audience and to make sure people like it because I just want it to get heard, you know what I mean? I want to make it as universal as possible. With poetry I’m a bit more selfish with writing that kind of stuff because it really doesn’t concern me whether it sells or not because I’m not a professional author, I’m just doing it for fun, but I am a professional recording artist so, you know, we feel like this sense of weight in the recording industry because of where it’s at right now and because we need to have the most happening and, you know, kind of eclectic song out there, so, that’s how it’s different for me.
Q. When will the book come out and where will be available?
A. The book is out now, and you can find it on Amazon.com, it’s on the Kindle, it’s on a Nook, and it’s an e-book, and you can also find it on BarnesandNoble.com.
Q. Season three of "The Vampire Diaries" has just started, but how shocked were you by the season two finale when you read it?
A. I was very shocked because I didn’t know that they were going to go in that direction at all. I thought that they would definitely save some of that stuff, but it’s so exciting to see all of that stuff unfold so soon. I just went, like, oh my gosh, it can’t get any better than this. This is as good as it can get. Now we’re shooting season three and it’s gotten even better, so it still to this day takes me by surprise the talent that these writers have, that they’re not scared of writing something because of the consequences and they really just go for it. I think that’s really cool.
Q. What can you tease about season three for the show and with Bonnie?
A. With Bonnie you will get to see a lot more of her relationship with Jeremy and you’ll also be able to see her relationship with the girls, too, so it’s something that you couldn’t really see that much in the past two seasons, which is really cool.
Q. How much of this season will Bonnie be involved with saving Stefan?
A. Let’s see, as of right now, Stefan is still on the dark side. Not even Elena can change him. I hope she’s part of it.
Q. With the ghosts Jeremy's been seeing, how will this effect Bonnie and Jeremy's relationship?
A. She will absolutely 100% accepts it because if he chooses these girls over something as permanent as Bonnie, it’s going to really prove to Bonnie that he hasn’t let go of his past, and if he tries to get rid of them and tries to be alone with them, then you know what Bonnie’s really going say, you know what, that’s amazing of you and I think she would really feel gratitude for that.
Q. How has Bonnie grown into her powers?
A. I think in the first season she didn’t want to accept what she is, and in the second season she completely embraced it, and now, kind of meeting in the middle of that where she is embracing who she is as a witch, but she’s also being human too. She’s not so much of a supernatural entity as much this season and she’s playing the role of the best friend or, you know, as a friend, or as the daughter, or you know, she’s playing those places right now instead of oh, I’m a witch, let me save the day. I’m sure Bonnie will be the hero, witchy spells, find out information like she normally does, but I do think that she would ask that they’re not going to be as magnified as much as her skills were last season.
Q. What can you tell us about the guest star additions to the show with stars like Claire Holt and David Gallagher?
A. I think I could work with David Gallagher, but he’s played a werewolf and I just think he’s so cool. I really, really loved him in Super 8 and I think he’s an incredible talent. I love to see when people from the CW/Warner Brothers TV go into film and go into other TV shows, and we’re lucky to have him. He seems like a really great actor and I hope that there is some way that I can work with him in the future on something.
Q. Where do you see the longevity of the show?
A. I think Julie Plec said it best, that by the end of the season everyone is going to have slept with everyone else, and everything that could have possibly happened, might possibly happen, will happen. I definitely think that, and that’s why it’s exciting because constantly, even on Twitter, on Facebook, on the forums, on Tumbler, on every single viral outlet you just see fans wanting different things. They all want different things. Especially, and I see a lot for Bonnie, because that’s what I like to check for, what the fans want, but I also see about the other characters too, and it’s like, they’ll never be 100% satisfied, so I like that. I like that they’re not 100% satisfied, I like that they are “shipping” characters with other characters that, at this point, have no romantic connection with each other, but they actually have a desire to see that in the future, you know? So I just think that anything can happen.
Q. You've done acting, signing, poetry, and dancing, what else would you like to try your hand at?
A. I’ve just become a published poet so I think that I’m fine. Let me just get a little bit more successful in either areas of life before I think of anything else. Singing and acting I think are my main focuses right now, and there’s so much that goes along with that. I think people just think oh, you get on a stage and play, you just get in the studio and you sing, or you just go, you know, and you act. But there’s so much that you can do in the realm of acting from writing scripts to producing, and with music, actually composing your own music which I feel is, stuff like that, so there’s such a huge realm of each one of those jobs that it’s really keeping me so occupied
