The Love Triangle and The Salvatore Brothers
Is The Vampire Diaries love triangle finally coming to an end? For (almost) three seasons, Damon and Stefan Salvatore have had their eyes on the same prize: Elena Gilbert. But according to Ian Somerhalder, Elena will make a decision in the Season 3 finale, once and for all.
Although Ian doesn’t divulge which bloodsucking bro Elena has her heart set on, Ian tells E! that the sexy Salvatores come to an agreement about their shared love in the season finale. Here’s the bad news: If Elena chooses Damon, Stefan will leave Mystic Falls. And if she picks Stefan? Vice-versa. Sounds harsh, but according to Ian, not only does the agreement limit some of the awkwardness, it ultimately forces the brothers to get “insanely close.” And we all know that hasn’t happened in awhile!
Ian teases that the finale isn’t even really about who takes home the girl, but rather about showing the vamp brothers’ resurrected bond. “Damon and Stefan really start to love each other,” he says of the finale. "In this situation, heartbreak and failure and triumph brings them together.” Oh really? Well, that might just be a first. Either way, we’re excited to see how it all goes down!
